Jessica Cuevas, Viva la Mami

Episode 80: Season 3 Finale

This episode is a brief yet impactful one as it wraps up Season 3! This season has been particularly special because it was during this time that I launched my coaching program, Balanced Madrehood. Throughout this season, I delved deeply into the issues, nuances, and challenges that many of us, as Latina mamis, experience daily. These conversations have been both enlightening and empowering, and they have prompted me to reflect on my identity and the profound impact it has on various aspects of my life, including my decision-making and mental health.

Navigating Identity and Mental Health as Latina Mamas

Our identity as Latina mothers plays a crucial role in shaping our thoughts and actions not just within our families but also in society. Throughout Season 3, I had the privilege of interviewing numerous Latinas who focus on mental and spiritual well-being. These conversations underscored the importance of self-care, which can include reclaiming our cultural heritage and ancestral practices such as meditation and healing rituals. This season has reminded me of how easy it is to forget these invaluable practices, and yet, how essential they are for our holistic well-being.

The Need for a Break: Balancing Madrehood, Entrepreneurship, and Familia

As Season 3 draws to a close, it’s important for me to take a break. Balancing the demands of running a business and being a mami has been incredibly challenging. My boys, who are currently one and three years old, require a great deal of attention and care, especially during their developmental stages. My family is my priority, and I need to focus on their needs to be fully present for them. Every mom faces different seasons in her journey. Whether you are raising young children or dealing with the trials of parenting teenagers, it is okay to let some things go temporarily to focus on what truly matters. For me, taking a pause from recording, editing, and publishing the podcast is necessary to ensure I can return re-energized and present for both my family and my audience.

I will be taking a break during July but will be back in August. During this time, I plan to replay some of the most popular episodes from Season 3, allowing you to reconnect with the podcast and its content. Additionally, I will remain active on social media, sharing glimpses of my life and experiences during the break.

Honoring Family and Cultural Heritage

At the time of this recording, my beloved bisabuela is ill, and we are anticipating her passing soon. This has prompted me to take my children to Mexico and will be traveling solo with them for the first time, which will be an adventure of its own! If you have any tips for traveling internationally with young children, please reach out to me on Instagram. Your advice would be greatly appreciated!

This trip to Mexico will be bittersweet. It will be a time to say goodbye to my bisabuela, who represents the last of her generation. I had the honor of interviewing her less than a year ago, capturing her stories and experiences. While my family has been eager to hear the interview, I am still contemplating the best way to share it, potentially as part of a memorial for her. Her stories are a testament to the resilience and strength of our familia’s legacy.

Looking Ahead to Season Four

As I wrap up this episode and Season 3, I am excited about the future! Season 4 promises new and exciting content, featuring special guests whose stories and expertise will enrich your madrehood journey. In addition to guest interviews, I will also share solo episodes discussing specific topics that impact us as Latina moms.

To all my listeners, THANK YOU for being part of this journey. If you haven’t had the chance to listen to the previous seasons, now is a great time to catch up during my break.

About Jessica Cuevas

Jessica is the founder and creator of Viva la Mami, LLC a community centered around Latina motherhood. Jessica created this platform after not finding empowering stories about experiences of Latina moms. She realized that there was a lack of representation in this space and felt there was a need for mamis to share their stories and to learn more about the nuances about motherhood through a cultural lens.

Viva la Mami’s mission is to empower the modern Latina mom to redefine the meaning of madrehood through education, story-telling, and cultural relevance all while bringing comunidad together.
