Last month, I had the pleasure of collaborating with two Latino-owned businesses, The Give-n-Receive and Blooming Bellies, for a pop-up event in the Chicago area. During this event, I had the honor of interviewing mujeres who wanted to share their motherhood stories. Our second guest is Sonnet Pacheco, the founder of Blooming Bellies.

The Birth of Blooming Bellies
Sonnet shared the story behind Blooming Bellies. Inspired by a friend and with the support of her husband and family, the idea to open a boutique ultrasound studio came to life just a year ago. Sonnet’s vision was to create a warm, non-clinical environment different from typical doctor’s offices. Blooming Bellies welcomes entire families, creating a communal and bonding experience for expectant parents.
Personalization and Community
One of the unique aspects of Blooming Bellies is its commitment to personalization and community involvement. Sonnet ensures each visit is private and tailored to the family’s needs, even locking the doors to ensure a personal experience. She aims to create lifelong relationships with her clients, starting from the first ultrasound to seeing families return with their newborns.
Redefining Motherhood as a Latina Mom
Sonnet also shared her approach to motherhood, influenced by her own upbringing and her desire to respect her children’s individual interests. Whether it’s supporting her son Uriah’s interest in woodworking or Gabriel’s love for music, Sonnet believes in fostering her boys’ passions and showing respect for their opinions.
