I’m thrilled to connect with you through this blog as I share my experiences and discussions from the latest episode of my podcast. This blog post will delve into the raw and authentic journey of balancing motherhood while pursuing entrepreneurial dreams, which I openly discussed during my recent State of Madrehood address on IG Live.
Finding Authenticity in Motherhood
As mamis, we often strive to present ourselves as super mamas, portraying perfection while concealing our struggles. However, I believe it’s crucial to reveal the reality and embrace our vulnerabilities. This platform, Viva la Mami, was created to be a community where mothers can tell their stories honestly, without the pressure of societal expectations.
The Mental Health Journey
A significant aspect of my IG Live centered on mental health, a topic that isn’t widely discussed in many cultures, particularly within the Latino community. I’ve experienced a challenging season, feeling less than my best in recent weeks. It’s important to talk about our feelings, acknowledge them, and seek help when needed. I’ve realized the necessity of taking care of my mental well-being so that I can be present for my family and myself.
Balancing Dreams and Madrehood
Being a mompreneur is no easy feat. Building and scaling a business while raising two little ones requires immense dedication and creativity. During a recent summit, I engaged in enlightening conversations about the realities of being a mompreneur. Although solutions were offered, the reality of managing a sustainable business alongside raising children remains complex. It’s about finding balance and being intentional with my limited time.
Taking a Step Back to Move Forward
I’ve come to realize that I need to prioritize self-care. Recently, I’ve been stretching myself thin, trying to juggle too many responsibilities at once. It’s perfectly acceptable to step back and focus on oneself. As a result, I’ve decided to limit my social media presence and refocus on the essentials, allowing more space for personal and family time.
Seeking Community and Support
Throughout this journey, I’ve been incredibly grateful for the support of my community, family, and friends. It’s okay not to be okay, and seeking help is a vital part of the process. Whether it’s through social media, my podcast, or personal connections, I encourage everyone to reach out for support and share their experiences.
Madrehood is a challenging yet rewarding journey that requires a strong support system and self-awareness. I invite you all to be an active part of this comunidad, share your stories, and let me know what you’d like to see from Viva la Mami. Together, let’s create a supportive, authentic, and empowering space for mothers everywhere.

About Jessica Cuevas

Jessica is the founder and creator of Viva la Mami, LLC a community centered around Latina motherhood. Jessica created this platform after not finding empowering stories about experiences of Latina moms. She realized that there was a lack of representation in this space and felt there was a need for mamis to share their stories and to learn more about the nuances about motherhood through a cultural lens.
Viva la Mami’s mission is to empower the modern Latina mom to redefine the meaning of madrehood through education, story-telling, and cultural relevance all while bringing comunidad together.
